Bring one for the Chipper

36628ea2517d864e89c7307bc7829a2cThe City of Dahlonega will be participating again this year in the Keep Georgia Beautiful Christmas tree recycling event, "Bring one for the Chipper".

Trees may be dropped off at the City of Dahlonega Shop, located behind City Hall at 465 Riley Road on Saturday, January 5th from 8 AM until 3 PM.

All tree decorations must be removed.

Fire Hydrants

From October 12 until the end of the year, City crews will be clearing vegetation around all city fire hydrants and customer water meters. When every second counts it is vital that Lumpkin County Fire Department personnel have visibility and unobstructed access to hydrants for personnel and equipment. Our ability to maintain and read meters efficiently is also important.

Please remove and replant any sensitive vegetation you may have planted within that you do not wish to have trimmed and/or destroyed. Please help us by keeping these areas clear of trees and shrubs. These areas should be planted and maintained in lawn grass .

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Public Works Crews Out & About

stairs   wastewater

City street crews have been painting curbs, improving crosswalks and sidewalks, and upgrading handicap accessibility. These improvements help to facilitate pedestrian movement throughout the downtown area.

You may have also noticed our Water Distribution and Sewer Collection teams repairing and upgrading drinking water and sanitary sewer lines throughout the city. They've also overseen the installation of several hundred feet of new 6" water main along Happy Hollow Road.

Our Solid Waste workers and grass cutting crews continue to keep the City looking good and were instrumental in preparing the downtown area for celebrations like the 4th of July.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant employees continue to keep the City in compliance with state regulations and are preparing for the 2016 plant upgrade that will ensure adequate capacity for decades to come.
